It’s Palin!

Circle today on your calendar, it is the day that John McCain united his party by selecting Sarah Palin to serve as his Vice President.

In Palin we have a fresh face for our party who has fought ethical violations by those in her own party. Her accomplishments in 2006 are astounding; she won election in by first defeating the incumbent governor in the Republican primary, then a former Democratic Alaskan governor in the general election.

There are obvious reasons for McCain to pick Palin. Sure those disgruntled Hillary supporters may be even more inclined to support McCain after putting Palin on the ticket, but she’s also articulate, she hunts, owns a float plane, and rides snowmobiles and she is solidly pro-life.

McCain needed to pick a VP who is with pro-life conservative credentials. In 2008 Palin gave birth to a son with Down syndrome. Earlier in her pregnancy she refused to let the results of prenatal genetic testing change her decision to have the baby. When asked about her son’s condition she said, “I'm looking at him right now, and I see perfection. Yeah, he has an extra chromosome. I keep thinking, in our world, what is normal and what is perfect?” This should get many pro-life activists engaged in the McCain campaign.

While a Romney or Pawlenty selection would have been fine, the selection of Palin lets our activists discover a new face in our party. It allows us to reach out and bring in new people to our party, which is something we desperately need to do.

Wile McCain’s campaign struggled early they sure are running on all cylinders in the most important time of the election. For the past few weeks you get a since that McCain has some momentum going into the convention, and if he does well there he should be able to continue to build it through the debates and on to election day.

It’s a great day to be a Republican. My friends over at Flyover have more on Palin.

  1. Ditto verything you said Hershel.

Great pick... on all of the fundamentals. This fall just got better.

  2. How does she look without her glasses?

Hope Steve Deace is finally happy with McCain.

  3. If this doesnt..nothing will make Deace happy short of Jesus himself.

    Yes it is!

  5. McCain was also considering Meg Whitman from eBay, which happens to be the largest operation in the world for fencing stolen merchandise.

  6. CNN is taking the low ground..

Questioning if she should "run for VP when she has a son with Down's Syndrome"

    Bastards...

    ReplyDelete
  7. I like it!

all you have to say in retort to the CNN comment is, "would you say that about a guy who just fathered a down's syndrome baby?". end of conversation.

only thing is they can point to some inexperience, but I suspect the commission she chaired... in an Oil State - was no small job.

I can now see McCain's ticket HELPING Miller-Meeks on the ballot, didn't really think it had coat tails until now.

  8. I was waiting for her to finish her speech and throw down her glasses, shake her hair loose and give Cindy McCain an icy stare.

  9. If the most important thing about being VP is being prepared to take over when the P keels over, doesn't this take McCain's "experience" argument off the table? If someone who was mayor of a town of 5000 and then governor of a small (population-wise), corrupt state for two years is ready then surely Obama is.

  10. She's got Obama beat on foreign policy experience: Obama's been a fairly inactive member of a body of 100 that specializes in debate and protocol over action, while Palin's been the executive of the only State in the US that borders on TWO foreign countries (Canada and Russia, for those who went to public school). Plus she's got a deathgrip on the "energy as a portion of foreign policy" issue due to her experience as Governor and as a member of the State Board that oversees the oil industry.

As far as Deace goes, I think he'll be disappointed and try to find a chink in her armor. The most important attribute of his dream candidate would be having the last name of "Huckabee", and all other issues are moot if he doesn't get that one thing.

  11. Im a little concerned. I believe that John should have picked Huckabee and I do not believe that she will be able to challange Biden in the debate as well as a Romney or a Thompson could have

  12. Anon 12:27..

Palin's done more to help her state than any other elected official previous.

She got in there..cleaned up the corruption..stopped wasteful state spending (for example, the first week in office, she put up a 1.2 million dollar cushy private jet that Frank Murkowski had bought up for sale)

And anon..Palin has MORE executive experience than either Obama or McCain does put together!

And its not a very smart idea to diss small town America...Contrary to Barack's belief..this isnt Cook County, Illinois..

  13. How can ANYONE in their right mind look at Sarah Palin and say "God, I wish Huckabee was the nominee"?

Maybe she could call Mormons "Satanic Cultists" to reach out to the Huckabee wing of the party? Then she could pack up all the furniture and the drapes off the windows to take with her when she leaves the Governor's mansion in Alaska.

As far as challenging Biden in the debate goes: if Sarah Palin can walk & chew gum at the same time, she'll be able to mop the floor with Joe "Foghorn Leghorn" Biden.

  14. I love it, I love it, I love it.

Sarah Palin is such a badass! And living proof that Republican chicks are way hotter than Democrat dogs!!!

  15. Total homerun! Out of the park!

Obama goes down BIGTIME in November.

  16. Am I the only one who first let a HUGE sigh of relief at who the VP choice wasn't???
My goodness, I had a lot of faith in John McCain's character before - but Palin for VP has absolutely fortified my conviction of this guy to be our next Prez.
The more I read about Palin, the more I really like her; and will GLADLY remind those blinded by the glitz that Sarah Palin has way more executive experience than Obama; in addition to some REAL ties to the middle class, unions, the environment, energy, busting corruption in government, understanding the implications of choosing life, having a loved one going into harm's way through military service....and that's just some of the things I've learned since first hearing her name around 11 am today!
    What a great choice!

  17. Someone called McCain's pick of Palin as a home run. This wasn't a home run it was a Grand Slam. This was the perfect pick for him.

  20. I believe the proper acronym would be VIPLF, Sir.

    ReplyDelete
  21. or VPILF, if you're not a dyslexic.

  22. I'm enjoying the honeymoon too, but something will surface in a few days that requires damage control, i.e. a video of something she said in a speech to the NRA, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  23. ...and you can be damn sure that something embarrassing WILL surface. Even if the media has to make it up themselves, it'll surface.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Turns out she fired a State Trooper because he wanted to divorce her sister... You would think Juan McCain would have vetted his picks a little better

    ReplyDelete
  25. you better check that story about the trooper out a little further... the divorce was happening because he was abusive... IE domestic violence, he was beating her sister.

Now, truthfully, tell me you wouldn't do the same thing in that situation.

  26. She is the perfect pick for everything Krusty said. She's smart, articulate, and is a SoCo like me. Furthermore she has a son in the military (canceling the future debate on the ticket with a loved one in the military), a husband who's a regular guy (and union member) and she's further away from Washington than any other perspective candidate. She can combat any argument the Dems make by simply holding up a mirror. She completely strengthens McCain.

This Huckabee guy is completely in line with the ticket and I hope all the others are, too.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Now I'm voting for McCain instead of voting against Obama.

And that makes a big difference with regard to the enthusiasm with which I talk to friends and family about the race.

  28. GRAND SLAM home run!

I didn't know we had a female like this in the R party. Fantastic !

Most importantly, McCain may have positioned this woman to where she can be a credible candidate for President in a future election.

My dream is the first female President is a Conservative.

    Palin ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Let's roll to November.

  29. McCain hit a home run! Now we need to all get together and support the ticket!

    ReplyDelete
  30. First off, a big shout out to Bob Dopf ladies and gentlemen!

Ok, now I was a little peeved at first about the pick because I wanted Mitt really bad like a lot of people, but then I heard Palin's speech when McCain introduced her.

All I can say is wow. She is awesome. She reminds me of another hot republican woman and "hockey mom" who served on a city council to lower property taxes. :)

And like Joel said, this here is a Mitt guy who is solidly behind the McCain/Palin ticket!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. And here's to Bob Dopf again! I hope you run again, Bob. We need more people like Bob out there.

Interesting. There’s nothing else on the page. This sure looks like the work of the dastardly right-wing anti-gay attack machine, doesn’t it?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But look who’s really behind this.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the Linux console, if you enter the following commands, you can learn the secrets of a political dirty trick. First, look up the host of ‘sarahpalingayrights.com’ to get the site’s IP address.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    host sarahpalingayrights.com
    sarahpalingayrights.com has address 74.208.74.232

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then use the same command to look up the domain name pointer of that IP address.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    host 74.208.74.232
    232.74.208.74.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer obamadefense.com

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Well, well. “Obamadefense.com,” eh?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And what happens if you enter obamadefense.com on your browser’s address line?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why, you’re redirected to none other than FightTheSmears.com, the official Barack Obama site that’s supposed to be defending him against smears.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looks like they may have a second purpose: to generate a few smears of their own.

  33. Palin is a great choice. This woman has walked the walk. She knows that children with Downs are also children of God. Good for her.

What a contrast to Obama who considers it a virtue to first attempt to kill an unborn child and then if the child is unfortunate enough to survive the abortion, to withhold medical attention. This is an EXTREME position and one of these RATS had the audacity of calling Mrs. Palin EXTREME because of her view.

This proves how evil and wicked today's Democrat party has become. They even want to kill newly born babies.

Mrs. Palin make a great VP and won't she look great in her inaugural gown!!

  34. Smart pick, picking a women, they just picked the wrong ONE! What a gimmick choice, even Republicans can see that, LMAO!
